Dry Cold Productions exists because Stephen Sondheim writes musicals.  Follies has always been on our wish list but until SondheimFest, it was unlikely to be counted as Dry Cold’s 6th production of his works. Follies has too large a cast, too much spectacle and is too expensive.   However, the offer of the 200-seat Berney from Winnipeg Jewish Theatre allows for a different approach: a more intimate show.   A re-imagining of the Follies I saw in the 2900-seat Royal Festival Hall in England 10 years ago.  Fundamentally it is the intimate story of two couples: Ben and Phyllis, Buddy and Sally.  Their lives have not played out quite as they had hoped since the Follies closed 30 years ago.  Stephen Sondheim once said, "I remember everything....falsely.   That's what Follies is about."  These couples are facing those false memories... with some hope for the future.
